Cannot log in to forums 1

I first encountered this problem on a different forum, but am also experiencing it on this one.

On the other forum, on my own machine when I try to log in, it will log me in, but apparently does not recognize any future pings as still being me. After logging in, it shows the welcome screen, and a "whose on-line" status will include me, but when I move to another page, I am back on the "visitor" list.

When I first tried to post the question on the Tek-Tip forum, a similar thing happens, the only difference is that a successful log-in (ie, one where I don't get the "information invalid" screen) just brings me straight back to the Home page, which is still requesting log in.

This is only a problem from my own computer. The one I am on now is under the same ISP account, and it works okay for both forums.

I am using IE 6.0 with Windows XP. I have tried clearing out the cookies and cache, and turned off caching, but the problem remains.

Any ideas?

Try emptying your Temporary Internet files and History.

I already did that. No effect.

Your cookie control may be too tight. You want to accept cookies from this and some other Forum sites.

Thanks! That was the problem. I'm not too happy with cookies and had raised my security level to "high" a couple of months ago. The other forum has a "always logged in" feature that has gotten me in without problems (and I have not had need to enter Tek Tips from home). But I logged out a couple days ago to see something from a visitor's perspective, and couldn't get back in.
