This was weird! I updated the driver and software for an old scanner I have so it would work in XP. After doing that, InDesign came up with this crazy message:

Cannot load InDesign.exe because it requires Sound.
Please install Sound and restart Adobe InDesign.

Has anyone seen this before or does anyone have any idea what it is wanting? I have tried reinstalling InDesign, uninstalling the scanner software and InDesign and then reinstalling Indesign. I have also tried reinstalling XP. Nothing has worked and I am clueless. Help!

Try trashing the ID pref file, when you open ID after this, it will create a new pref file. This iften corrects weirdnesses that result from corrupt pref files.

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Hello! I have a few questions:
- What scanner software did you install? What manufacturer/model/version?
- What happens if you open Notepad and save a file on your desktop called "sound.txt"? Does it disapear, or can you see it on your desktop? Can you save and see any file on your computer that is called sound?
- Do you have any virus scanning sofware on your computer? If so, update your definitions and run a full system scan. Please report if it foudn anything.
