One of my users, when clicking on a URL within an email message cannot get I.E. to launch. I have created and logged on his PC with my profile and have the same issue from within his Outlook.

I forwarded several of the users emails to me at my PC and I was able to go to the websites without a problem (so the links are fine).

If I copy and paste the link into Word on his PC - the link works.. so it is definitely a problem from within Outlook and not with the link.

Any help out there?

Thanks, Duane

Thanks Carrr and Sawedoff for the posts... I tried both, but neither did the trick. I'm at the point now where "some" links will launch and others won't.. no obvious pattern with the links or email messages they are in... maybe a settings within Outlook somewhere?

Try this:

1. Quit all programs that are running.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.
4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.
If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file names below): • Shdocvw.dll
• Msjava.dll
• Actxprxy.dll
• Oleaut32.dll
• Mshtml.dll
• Browseui.dll
• Shell32.dll (Windows XP and Windows 2000 only)

You've already done the first one, but try the rest of the list, one at a time.

Any luck?

Hey Carrr.. tried all of the dll's... no luck. I'm out of things to try here... I've even reloaded Outlook... but something looks broken between I.E. and Outlook somewhere.. still working the problem here.. thanks for all your help...

Here is one more DLL to try re-registering. Use carr's mthod on WinHTTP.dll. This is the type library that Windows uses to make HTTP calls.

Thanks for the info fumei... but that didn't seem to work either... I'm thinking it's an Outlook problem. I copied and pasted a few of the links that won't work into Word and he can open them. I also copied them into an email and had him send it to himself... and he can open them. If it wasn't for the fact that those same emails he can't open CAN be opened on a different machine I would believe it was the formating of the email at the originators machine.. but he's the only one having the problem. I'm at a loss... my last resort is to re-image or give him another computer which I don't want to do at this point.

I ran into this problem in Outlook Express 6. Go to Outlook Express's Options -> Security and uncheck the box by "Block images and other external content in HTML email".

Hope it works for you too!

Merry Christmas!
