Hello,

I have one computer on my network that cannot seem to logon to the domain. It's saying it does not exist or cannot be found.

I can do the following:

-Logon as local admin and ping the dns server.
-I can resolve host names.
-The client receives an IP address.

What I did:

-Disjoined it from the Domain since it could not get to it anyway.
-Flushed DNS cache
-Forced Registering in DNS
-IPCONFIG /release and renew.

Now I still cant join it to the domain. Anyone have any suggestions? I do believe it may be a problem specific to the client, but resides on the DNS server. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

John

I had the same problem with W2K pro machines. Make sure Computer Browsing is turned off. They thought they were the master browsers. I don't know why this helped, but it did. Good luck. Glen A. Johnson

Glen,

Where is this setting "computer browsing"? Where do you go to turn it off is the question I guess.

I am curious if it will fix my issue.

Thanks

It's in services. Go to My Computer, Manage, Services and Applications, Services. Good luck. Glen A. Johnson

Reginald,

Can you ping the DNS server by name as well as by IP address?

Can you give it a static ip and see what happens? Glen A. Johnson

Try using an LMhost file, and check the wins settings are correct

Did this issue ever get solved? If so, how? I'm having the same problem.

Use a atatic ip.....
Make sure you have the ip of the domain controller that you are trying to join specified on your adapter.
