i have tried to install the client using the push installation via a wizard and nothing happens. It hasn't worked yet i have checked everything i can think of and nothing has worked. we then decided that the best method of installation for our purposes would be using a login script but never having written one before that isn't working either. I can get the script to map the drive but it won't run the file. I'm using the syntax

start "title" path

and it hasn't worked please somebody help me

SMS 2003, eh ?
Which client, Advanced or Legacy ?
Also, have you specified an Installation-Account for this ?

Cheers,
Chris

It was trying to install the advanced client using the file capinst.exe with the following switches /AdvCli /SLP=servername. I'm not sure what you mean when you say an installation account. If you mean an account on the machine that is a domain administrator and a local administrator then yes

I have set up an account that is a domain and local admin on the machine under accounts in the client push installation properties. I have also added that same account to the connection accounts and am only trying to push the installation to the one computer where that account is a local admin. After i go through the wizard nothing appears to happen.

Check the logs on the client - they should provide you with more information (maybe your boundaries are not correct)

Cheers,
Chris

do you have advanced security truned on?? is this all clients on the domain or just 1 site, from a secondary? what type of machines wont install xp NT...?

Yes advanced security is turned on. Both computers are members of the same domain which is run from the same computer that SMS is installed on. The machines that won't install are Windows XP pro and Win2000 pro.

Not meaning to ask a dumb question but...I will :) these machines are showing up in the in the admin console from a discovery method, if so what discovery method did you use?

I'm just trying to figure out what direction to go.

another thing if you take a look at your ccm.log and ddm.log on the site server. Those logs will
tell you why your new machines aren't getting pushed via a push method.

they are showing up in the collections, but i'm not sure which method i used to get them there. It took some time for them to appear in the collections aswell. as far as the ccm.log and ddm.log i have looked at these and they are so confusing and jumbled that i couldn't make any sense out of them

verify that your clients can contact their Server Locator Point (SLP) through WINS and/or AD

Here is the first bit of my ccm.log
