Cannot Install Anything !

Hi All
My Mother in Law (luv'er!) has tried to install MSN Messenger, a digital camera and a Agfa scanner
But they all hang when we get to the "Installer Shield" bit !
Have totally cleaned up the system using Norton Utilities
with no change, McAfee says no virus ect
Any ideas ?
Is it worth reinstalling WinME ? if so will it save all her settings,programs ect ?

try disabling Norton Utilities and McAfee Virus during the install. Also, make sure that you have a high enough spec to allow for the install of the software.

nuke your msiexec.exe and msi.dll files go to

http://www.arcanadev.com/msi.htm

and download the updated microsoft installer there....run it and your all set....be sure to reboot after.....i had the same problem and it worked out fine....good luck
