Cannot Insert bullets in Word 97

Hi,
A user in the office cant insert bullets into any word document.
She cant do it from the short cut nor from Format, Bullets and numbering.
Nothing happens when she tries either of these. The documents are not protected and she can do any other formatting with them.
It is just standard bullets she is trying to insert.
She is using word 97.
Any help would be greatly appreciated in solving this problem.

I already had a similar problem with a user because he "customised" the bullets... with a white police.
Format / Bullet and Numbering / Bullet / Customise / Police / Color

PS : "path names" can be wrong because I'm working on a French version Ced
Lausanne / Switzerland

i take it, she can select the bullets she wants, but then nothing happens.....

just a wild idea.....go to start, settings, control panel, display, settings, advanced, troubleshooting and turn down acceleration a step

Have the user go to Format-Bullets and numbering. Choose the bullets tab. Click on EACH TYPE OF BULLET and, if it's available, hit the RESET button for EACH one. Anne Troy

I have tried each one of your steps but still have no luck in getting it fixed.
Any more ideas?

Hi again,
I have solved the problem.
I renamed Normal.dot and restarted word, which recreated the file.
Bullets are working fine now.
