This may be a stupid question.

I cannot get to as of yesterday. I get immediate "Action Canceled" and the URL points to the previous URL.

I can get to any other website.

Is this a TCP/IP issue? What happend to my computer? Only does it on my computer.

thanks!
Alan

There's a small chance you've got a bad DNS entry "stuck" in your cache. You can fix this by entering
Code:
ipconfig /flushdns
at a command prompt.

If that doesn't fix it, can you ping yahoo?

Thanks LawnBoy,

I did the ipconfig successfully. But I still got Action Canceled.

But I can successfully ping
I think you are on the right track. Any other ideas?

Thanks again!

Does your HOSTS file have an entry for yahoo? If so, delete it. C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\

Are you behind a proxy server or a firewall? Do you have control of these appliances?

Any chance other software is blocking the site? (Google toolbar, antivirus, antispyware, etc.)

I deleted the hosts files. Still have the problem.

I am behind a firewall. Seems that Internet Explorer is having the problem since I can successfully ping yahoo.

Yesterday I logged onto Microsoft E Learning site. I had to install and ActiveX to run the viewer that E Learning uses. Could this have caused this problem?

Also tonite we are going to reboot our server. Would this help?

I appreciate all your suggestions. Any other ideas?

Thanks so much

You need a hosts file. I meant delete the entry for yahoo, not the whole file.

It wouldn't be the first time an ActiveX control screwed something up... and the timing is right.

Did anything change on the firewall? We had a problem last year with Yahoo (and I've heard of this happening elsewhere.) The issue at the time was that we did a software upgrade on the firewall and it started denying incoming UDP DNS responses larger than 512 bytes. The back-end systems that provide DNS services for Yahoo use eDNS extensions that support UDP responses larger than 512 bytes, but your firewall may be dropping them.

It's just a guess. I seem to recall that we could get to mail.yahoo.com, just not yahoo.com. Check the firewall logs to see if it's dropping any DNS responses.

Anyway I can uninstall that ActiveX?

I don't think the firewall changed.

Do you think tonite's server reboot would cure this?

Thanks.

I fixed it!!!

I uninstalled both of :

1. .NET Tunnel Client
2. EBLVD

And Yahoo came back.

I am pretty sure that .NET Tunnel Client was causing the problem.

Thanks for your help! I needed .NET Tunnel client to help with a Microsoft E Learning class. My problems with Yahoo apparently started when I installed .NET TC.

So I guess we all have to beware of .NET TC.

Thanks for all your help!!

Hey thanks everyone for your help.

I solved the problem by uninstalling both .NET tunnel client and eblvd.com.

I suspect that eblvd was the culprit since I have reinstalled .NET tunnel client.

Anyway, now I can Yahoo all day!

Thanks!

lol, almost. Since IE is part of the OS, it's always running. I would change that to:

Linux solves all the problems IE causes.
