When I was running win98 I had no problem setting up the printer for the network. but since I installed xp I cannot get the printer to work on the network.
WELL I haven't tried in awhile but the first time I did it I did a reformat to clean my computer out. and then I tried several times and several differnt ways. I have a book on windows xp that I followed to the tee but nothing. According to the computer its setup right but it just wont work. I even have a speedstream router with a parallel connector on it and when I hook up the printer to it it wont even find it. but it works fine on my computer
If you connect your HP printer to a NON HP router or printserver you cannot expect it to work unless you are 100% sure the the router or prinserver supports bi-directional mode allowing the printer to communicate via the rest of the network (PC´s) If the printer or router can be set for centronics mode, it might work.
ok but what about this. when I was running 98 I had the printer hooked up to my comupter as normal and I had it set to share and I could use it on the other computer but now with xp I have it set to share and it just won't work Any suggestions
basically this is the deal. When I was running win98 I could access the other computer from this one here. I could go in and send files copy or what ever I wanted and. I had my printer hooked up to this computerand I could print from both computers . Thats how Its hooked up now ( to this computer. I don't have the same router as I had then but I did have that router when I installed xp and just as now I can't get the same results. I can't access the other computer and I can't print from the other computer
