I have just installed a M810 L 7.1 mainboard with 1.2 gig amd k-7 cpu. The board has onboard sis 730 chipset with all peripherals built in. I have reinstalled multimedia drivers several times, and cannot get any audio. The OS is Win98, second edition. Any suggestions how I can get the multimedia to play sounds? It appears to be playing, yet no sound. I have tried even plugging speakers in to all the external jacks, yet to no avail.

The 810L has an Driver auto setup that takes ages!!!! 15mins or there abouts, it loads each driver one at a time, rebooting in between, it can APPEAR! to have finnished because it does have a habbit of hanging between each driver installation.
If you are convinced the drivers are installed properly??
NO YELLOW question marks in Device Manager, then is the WINDOWS volume control turned right down?
Have you fitted an audio fly cable to the CDrom???? and down to the audio connector underneath the modem riser card? Martin Please let members know if there advice has helped any.

at one time, did have the cd fly cable installed, but it appeared to not be wired correctly for this board, so it was removed. I am thinking that wave files, and midi files should play without this cable being installed
It still appears that the drivers were installed correctly

The audio fly cable is needed for 98SE, it won't harm to refit it and see if it helps. On the other hand I understand it is not needed for XP.
I would still go into the control panel and check your sound and audio devices and settings, I have known people to have accidently turned there sound off. Martin Please let members know if there advice has helped any.
