My question is so elementary it's embarrassing . I have made a menu for my application using the Menu designer, but I cannot execute the "Generate" tab of the "Menu" menu. It remains hidden no matter what I try. I have absolutely no idea why. I even used the quick menu option, just switched the order of two tabs, and tried to regenerate it. Same problem, the "Generate" tab is not selectable.
I found nothing in the manual or MSDN, so I guess it is supposed to be as straightforward as it can be, but well, not for me.
Any help would make my day :)

Try closing everything (including VFP), come back to VFP and in the command window use
MODIFY MENU c:\menu1.mnx && Or whatever

And see is the option becomes enabled. The menu designer also has to have focus.

Harulem,

I've seen this problem occasionally (except that the Generate command is disabled rather than hidden). I've no idea why it happens, but I can always fix it just by exiting VFP and coming back in again.

The most likely cause is having the app or fxp suspended.

Next, make sure _genmenu properly points to a genmenu.prg that exists. (Tools->Options->File Locations)

Thanks for all the advices :)
The _genmenu was not properly pointing to genmenu.prg. That fixed the problem.
