I have installed Certificate Services on the Exchange 2000 Server. The certificate has been generated, as I can see it if I go into the Certificates snap-in. However, when I attempt to setup a Certificate request by going to the Internet Information Services >> website >> properties >> Directory security on the Exchange website .... i do not have the option of clicking any of the buttons under Secure Communication. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong or if I have missed a necessary step that allows me to access the "Server Certificate" button?

Thanks

Jason

ok, an update. I figured out the problem, as I was trying to set the certificate on the exchange directory instead of enabling it on the default web site first.

SSL is enabled, and I have setup the Exchange directory to require SSL. I did NOT choose to use 128 bit encryption. When I enter the URL i used to use:

the browser indicates that I need to use https instead, which I expected.

However, if I then enter:

I get a "cannot find server" error.

I am quite sure it is not my client config, as I am able to access other sites that require https.

Any ideas?

Thanks again
