I cannot email from a printer anymore since changing internet provider. I changed the smtp server on the printer to match the new smtp server. Could it be that the new smtp server require authentication whereas the old internet provider did not require authentication? The printer does not have any option for email authentication. I can send emails from a pc using the new smtp server so I know the smtp server is working correctly. Please advise. I am using a HP CM2320 fxi MFP printer.

Authentication for email is generally set up by changing the outgoing port, for Micros%$# it's 2525 or 995. Have you tried that? I know that where I work, when we had an ADSL connection, I had to change everyone's outgoing to 2525 because of some weird crap with AT&T...check what port the computers that work are set up to use.

It was 2525. I got an error message when sending a test email from the PC. I changed it to 25 and the test email from the pc worked. However, when I try to scan directly from the printer with 25 it fails.

Sounds like it's not set up right in the printer?

Have you contacted HP? Their support is usually pretty good...
