Networker is unable to backup one particular /opt/ , it starts to backup but then aborts, and savegroup reports error
""Cannot determine status of the backup process. Use mminfo to determine job status ""

mminfo for this save set states that it is backed up ,

Hello,

during the save, NW holds temporary data under /nsr/tmp/sec/sg/group_name/ (save set success and abort, and other stuff)

Then after the termination, it reads this file to give information to the savegroup completion notification.

Sometimes, it happens that the temporary file is empty (due to a lack of nsrjobd), so NW cannot tell the user if the save was successfull or not.

mminfo works with media database which is updated as often as needed when a saveset save completes (succesfully or not).

What is your version of NW ? have you nsrjobd core dump ?

I had this kind of problem with a 7.2.. and with a 7.3.3. I've now a patched savegrp binary.

NW version is 7.3.3
I did an mminfo for /opt , but found that all the seve set are aborted ,and savegrp reports tell that the backup was aborted after which it reports the above error

how do you find nsrjobd core dump ?

did egato provide patch on the same

So, your save is not complete...

You can find cores under /nsr/core or /nsr/cores

Which OS are you running ?

Did your group was pending for a long time before it crashes ? Have you many many clients launched with your group ?

My problem was due to a 'miscommunication' between savegrp and nsrjobd (savegrp was too fast in sending state of sessions).

Did you open a case ?

I have opened a case , but havent had any reply
is there any other command that i can run to get more information because all the other folder get backed up apart from /opt

Have you tried a save of only /opt ?
Which size have your /opt ?
Have you files under /opt which are written during save ?

No core dumps under /nsr/cores ?

ok this is wht I found after runnign few manul save

/opt/uptry-----------) does not get backed up
on my repeated trys also this doesnot backup
but all there folder are backing up fine no problem with it

yeah and no core dumps under nsr cores
