I have two individuals reporting this problem of being unable to delete email in outlook. The only common thing between them that I think may be a link is that they are both using Netzero as their ISP's (the free accounts). I checked into email capping. It did appear that at least one of them had their email set to leave a copy of their messages up on the server. However, the users are sending and receiving fine. What on earth is the issue here! I have been in this field a while and have never seen anything like it. I wanted to think along the lines of a virus but am uncertain when the second report came to me.....

When you say that you are unable to delete the mail, do you mean that it keeps downloading from the server?, or is it not removing from the Inbox of the users?? I think you meant that it keeps downloading from the server?

Is it one mail, or all the mails that are there? I think it is more a problem with the ISP rather then Outlook. If you really think it is Outlook, then set up and different account with a different ISP and see if that generates the same problems.

If you can find anything obvious, it will most likely be the ISP and hopefully not a virus. Jay~

Like "Businessman" we are at times unable to delete Microsoft Outlook messages. Specifically, at times I will highlight an email message and hit the delete button and the message will not be deleted. This occurs on a number of machines (possibly all of them) on our network. At that point, I must reboot the machine in order for the function to then work propertly.

We have a mail server which run Linix, and our PCs are running Windows 98 2nd edition.

Any thoughts?

I was having the same problem. There were two messages in our IT Mailbox which myself and one other person use for issuing/managing team tasks. Neither one of was able to delete these entries. One was a Task Accepted message dated 12/30/01 and the other was a Task Declined message dated 1/9/02 (they are not regarding the same task). When I deleted the offending Tasks from the task list, I was suddenly able to delete the Task Accepted and Task Declined messages.. Go figure! - I'm guessing there was a corrupt link or something. Hope that helps.
