Cannot delete a DTS trunk assigned to a Local-only DN set 1

I have an issue with a 3300 installed for a customer and programmed by another provider. A DTS key was programmed on a 5330 set and now they want to put that trunk into a group for all extensions to access. The 3300 is not in a clustered environment so I am not sure why the extensions were all programmed with the local-only option checked. When I try to clear the key I get an error saying "Cannot add an empty Directory Number to the Local-only Directory number List". I have even tried deleting the extension but can't until the key is cleared.

Can anyone shed some light on this predicament?

The system is running MCD 5.0 SP2.

The why is because whoever upgraded this system above 4.0 did not follow the proper steps for database migration.

The how.
try programming the DTS key on another phone that is not local only
then try removing from the local only phone
Then try removing from the non local only phone

Just guessing, btw

Ok thanks kwbMitel for your response, however when I tried your suggestions I have encountered some more issues:

1) The system has no spare IP licenses to for programming new extensions and all programmed phones are local-only dn.
2) I cannot even program the trunk on another phone as DTS. In the saving data page it says that the directory number is currently programmed as another type of group.

My next question is, since this system is a standalone system is there any way I can change all the phones from Local-only DN without having to reprogram the entire system?

I believe you will have to delete your phones and reprogram to remove the local only dn status.

I've never had this challenge but that is what I remember from others asking the same question.

Or, were they always programmed as local only? Do you have a backup reflecting them NOT being local only that you could restore from?

Always look out for the next tech. because one day it will be you!

jrgood0852, I believe they were always programmed this way as I indicated we inherited this system from the customer's previous service provider and they have no backups on site.

kwbMitel, I can't delete the set before removing the key programming and I can't remove the key assignment because the system says it cannot add an empty directory number in the local-only dn list.

Sort of stuck in a loop here it seems.

Yes it's possible to remove all the local DN without reprograming everything.
1st-backup
2nd-You need to connect to 3300 using ftp and delete a specific file: /db/database/files/localDnList.db
3rd-reboot the system

After the reboot, they will be regular extension without the local DN option checked.

Would be interested if the above works.

Ok thanks for that suggestion, I will try that and post the results here.

OK, that suggestion worked like a charm p011406. Thank you for the advice and assistance.

Excellent! In MCD 6 as well?

If I remeber correctly, the last one that I did on a MCD 6.0
