cannot create user

I am using SOLARIS 8. While logged on as a root , i am trying to create users using admintool. Everything goes fine until I try to create home directory for user. it gives me error like- Home directory is owned by different user.
What happens that , later on the users cannot log on to SUN machine...
any clue??

What home directory are you specifying? Does it exist? Who is it owned by?

I am specifying /export/home/...
Root owns it.

You have to specify a new directory name.
Let's say you create user bob, the home directory should be /export/home/bob.
If you have that error that means that there's already a user who owns bob directory. Try to specify another directory.

man I hav fixed da prob. I created directory using root and then used chown to transfer the right. Thnx everybody. Ur opinion helped me to reach the solution.
