Hi there!
I have problems with creating exchange 2000/2003 mailboxes.I have two exchange servers 2k and 2k3.Everything was fine ,i was able to create both exchange 2k and 2k3 accounts long time but since yesterday it was impossible to create any mailboxes, just windows domain accounts. The interesting fact is that there are not any errors anywhere.Exchange servers works like before, the existing users cat operate,i can move mailboxes from one to another exchange server. I have try to create domain account and i set that i want and exchange mailbox, the whole procedure finish successfully without any errors or warnings. The domain account exists and is possible to log on to the domain but mailbox is not created. When I check properties of the domain account everythig is fine except the fields "E-mail" on "General" tab and "E-mail addresses" tab are empty.
On "Exchange General" tab everything is fine- "Mailbox store" field consists the correct information, the "Alias" field also.I also checked Exchange System Manager, but in the mailbox store there is no mailbox of the user.
I have no idea what happens

Send an email to the account and the mailbox will appear.

You can;t see the Exchange tab's in Active Directory Users and Computers? Even running it on the Exchange server?

I've seen problems with creating accounts. The fix for me has been to reapply Exchange 2003 SP1.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark

Nickpark, i have already tried to send mail but without result, the postmaster return email that the mailbox doesn't exist.

Markdmac cai i just reinstall exchange 2k3 sp1.
But what are dependencies between 2k and 2k3,why cannot create mailboxes on exchange 2000,on both servers i cant create mailboxes

I presume it has something to do with changes that Exchange 2003 makes to the schema but I can not be sure. As I said the fix for me has been to reapply SP1. Had to do it for about 3 or 4 customers.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark

I am not sure, but can be the problem after installing MS Intelligent Message Filtering for Exchange 2003?
What do you think?

You must have a Recipient policy set for the email address to appear automatically... is this working I wonder?

What happens if you manually add an SMTP address on the "E-mail Addresses" tab and then send an email to it?

Thank you for all your suggestions friends, nickpark i have made all these but arent working.
The solution is: If you have two exchange servers one 2k and one 2k3 in the same domain dont install MS Intelligent Message Filtering for Exchange 2003,in some way it block creation of mailboxes. I just uninstall it and everythig goes fine

And also dont apply any patches to the exchange 2k

One thing to add here. I had similar problem when I created two new email accounts. I didn't install or upgrade anything other than a maintenance reboot after updating Windows patches. The exchange system attendent didn't start on the reboot creating all this problem. Starting System attendant suddenly pops up the email address along with email aliases and mailbox rights. I hope this helps for you all.
