Custom program on Windows 2000 server accessed using Terminal Server on Windows 2000 server from XP workstations using RDP.

When accessing the program daily there is no problem. But if the vendor posts an updated version, user is prompted that a new version is available and to update their workstation.

After the update, unless they either cancel or log in then back out of the program, everyone else trying to log in get the newer version message, but cannot update. They get the error "Error copying file or folder" "Cannot copy wfse. There has been a sharing violation. The source or destination file may be in use." Of course, as soon as that one person logs out the next person can log in and get the udpate.

Does anyone know a way around this either with the way the program is accessed or a programing line suggestion which could be added to release the update program so the next person can get it or a way to share the program?

Reposting in hopes someone has a solution.

I suspect you have a related service or program (wfse?) is running. Check TaskManager for wfse or something related to the application. What is the name and purpose of the application?

Sounds to me like the pgm runs as a client/server app. If the vendor accesses the program while it is running, they should get the kind of error you listed above...

Are you able to upgarde when the app is OFF (not running)?
