I have a client running Arcserve 11.5 on a Windows 2003 server. They backup another server that has SQL 2000 on it. The MSSQLSERVER service on that server runs under the domain admin account. The backup is failing with a Windows error 1326 on trying to backup SQL (insufficient privileges) All of the Arcserve services (5 of them) on the box that has SQL are running under the local system account, but I also changed them all to run under the domain admin account. When trying to modify the backup, it gives me an insufficient privilege error when clicking on the SQL server icon. When prompted, I put in the domain administrator name and password in the correct format (domainname\username. I still get the same error, although it opens up the view where I can see the databases. The original settings were domainname\serviceaccount. It will not save the new login info.

Is this an Arcserve issue, or a permissions issue in SQL?

Any input welcome.

It might be necessary to give the account the following user rights using the local security policy (Domain Controller Security Policy on a DC):

- act as part of the operating system
- (allow) log on locally
- log on as a service

the 1326 is definatly a Windows Logon error, when you receive this error you have no connection with SQL server yet

hope this helps,

regards
