cannot connect to pc on lan

i have 2 pc's set up on a hub both pc's can be seen, 1 pc can access the other but the 2nd one cannot connect error
says that cannot connect because it doesnt have permission
how do i fix this problem so i can connect ?
 
What OS are they running.......do you have file sharing setup on both PC's......does one have the firewall enabled....??
 
are you running ZoneAlarm on one of the PCs?

OS is Windows XP on both pc's no firewalls and i just set up file sharing on both pc and still not working
 
turn off simple filesharing.

Open Windows Explorer

Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> (All the way at the bottom) Use Simple File Sharing (Recommended)

Uncheck that.

This should give you more control over the shares and maybe hopefully allow you to grant rights to the other machine.
