Hi,

I have a HP Unix box with oracle 8.1.6 and I just Installed on XP Oracle Enterprise manager with Oracle Tunning,DIagnostic and change management packs, When i try to login to the server i receive "CANNOT CONNECT TO THE MANAGEMENT SERVER CHECK THE HOST NAME AND THE MANAGEMENT SERVE RIS RUNNIG" How do I Find that the server has this service running? I intalled an older version of the Enterprise manager that doesnt need the management service and i CAN login. I dont know to much about unix also...I Appreciate the help!!!

Hi,
You need to install or have access to ( if one is installed somewhere on your network) an Oracle management server with its repository..
Check the installation options and be sure, if you need your own, that the Management Server ( with repository ) is created..( It is a specialized Oracle Instance and can co-exist with other instances on a server, but I recommend setting it up on a dedicated server/instance combo)
Refer to and
check out the docs regarding the Management Server setup and configuration.

Thanks turkbear,

I didn't do the installation the guy who did it left, does that software comes in the Oracle Enterprise Manager installation CD?

Also I dont have any Management Server this will be my first...

Again Thanks in Advance!!!

Hi, I believe so, but it will require some knowledge of how to configure an Oracle Database instance; Read the docs carefully before attempting to do it..

Good Luck,
