I am trying to establish a connection to an Oracle (9i) db using an Oracle user account with DBA privs. I am using BO Supervisor to define the repository connection.

Here are the error messages I am getting:

Database server error and warning messages:

BusinessObjects configuration:
Network Layer: Oracle OCI
DBMS Engine: Oracle 9
DLL: C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Data Access 5.0\SQBOCI50.DLL
SBO: C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Data Access 5.0\Oracle\Oracle
PRM: C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Data Access 5.0\Oracle\ora7
RSS: C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Data Access 5.0\Oracle\oracle

--------------------

Items of Note:

1) I can connect to the Oracle 9i db using SQL Plus worksheet (using TNSNAMES as my connection method).

2) I can 'tnsping' the Oracle DB.

3) I installed both the Oracle 9i client AND BO 5.1.6 as Admins on a local box.

Any ideas on a possible resolution, anyone?

Appreciate some good feedbacks and thanks a lot!

Are you getting that error message when you Test the connection settings in Supervisor?????

While installing BO, did you install the proper data access packs?

Sridharan,

Yes, I get the error message when I am testing the connection settings in Supervisor.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

blom0344,

Yes, I did install the proper data access packs. And doesn't the middleware check (which was OK with Oracle at it showed on a readme log) confirm this after a successful install?

Thanks and appreciate your help.

Try re-installing BO.
Be careful while choosing the Data access packs.
The same worked for me with BO 5.1.7 and DB2 Ver 8.

There may be some issues in the Oracle_home path. Usually this should work.
