I am installing a new IBM x306m COTS Server with Linux Rls. 5.0. The Linux Base Load loaded fine. I then loaded the NRS application, choosing option 1 to make it the primary ECM Server. All seemed to be fine. When I browse from my laptop which is on the elan (I can ping the ECM/NRS from my laptop) to the elan address of the ECM/NRS I get an error saying the FQDN cannot be resolved. It offers a hyper-link to the FQDN, when I click on it I get an IE page saying that it can't display the web page.
Any ideas what I have missed?

John,

I am preparing to replace 2 Nortel VxWorks ISP1100 Signaling Servers with 2 Nortel provided IBM x306m Linux Based COTS Signaling Servers. One of the existing Signaling Servers is the stand alone primary nrs, the other is the standalone alternate nrs. Both existing Nortel Signaling Servers are installed on the Elan with the Nortel CS1000M MG which is currently running Rls. 4.5 (DSN).

My apologies if I have posted this question in the wrong forum. Where should Nortel Signaling Server questions be posted?

Thank you in advance!

You are in the right forum. If fqdn is not registered with the dns server, you will have to modify your host file on your pc. You usually use your tlan ip for this, not your elan. You probably will have to put it in your trusted sites and get a certificate from the ecm to install on your pc.

I've only put 1 in, buts thats what I had to do.

your host file is located in windows/system32/drivers/etc. instructions are in it.

Thanks Wane47!

This was my issue I also had to disable the firewall on the client machine.

Next hurdle -
I'm now trying to restore my VxWorks 4.5 NRS database to the 5.0 Linux NRS. Only some of my endpoints are restoring and as you might guess all of the routing entries are not coming over as well. In total I have about 9800 routing entries and 5 endpoints.

Has anyone had any experience restoring VxWorks NRS to Linux NRS?
