I've seen a few posts in the interet (including this one), none seems to match my problem. I cannot browse the internet with either IE 6 or Mozilla 1.5. This is on a Windows 2000 machine, with all the latests patches (SP4, etc.). It is directly connected to a cable modem. I am able to do an ipconfig /all and I get an IP address, default gateway, dhcp server, and 3 dns servers. I can ping known IP addresses as well as fully-qualified domain names (google.com, cisco.com), which tells me that DNS is not the issue. I can hook my laptop (Win XP) up to the same ethernet cable and everything works fine. I ran a complete system scan with Norton Anti-Virus (with latest definitions as of 11/28) and nothing was found. I also ran a complete scan with Ad-Aware ... it found 7 objects (browser hijackers, etc.) that I removed. I rebooted, and still could not browse with either browser. In IE, the status bar will say "web site found, waiting ..." and it eventually times out. I am at a loss here ... any ideas?
Thanks-
Jason
