Cannot Backup NAS

I am using Brightstor v9 for Netware and cannot backup snap
server (NAS). How to install the netware agent.I cannot login in to the snap because it's running bindary.

Which version of SNAP are you using. It is prior to the Linux OS on SNAP Guardian Servers 4400, 4500, 14000 then you can not install an agent on the server. Need to backup over ncp or smb as a mounted share.

Mount the SNAP server to the backup server.. ie Map a Network Drive.

Then tell the backup software to backup the network drive.


From Windows:

1: Start command prompt
2: type net use * \\server_name\share_name /u:user_that_has_access password
3: it will tell you which letter it mapped to.
4: cd to the letter it mapped to and make sure you can see your data.
5: From backup software say to use the drive letter windows mapped.

Hi,Lawrence within Brighstor backup cannot see the option to backup using windows map drive. I appreciate if you can
explain how to use map drive within brighstor backup.

I am not familiar with the Novell Version of Brightstor, so I am not sure on how to do it. Try from the backup screen, adding a Preferred Shares\Machine and add the SNAP as an object using its UNC. \\servername\sharename
