Hi, I am trying to add a new range of extensions starting with a 4, due to a new block of DID's added. system will not accept, current extensions start with 5. The only conflict I can find is the park orbits are 2 digit numbers starting with 4, like 48, 49 etc. Could this be my conflict and if so where can I change these park numbers? thanks

Dan

Yes, that would be the conflict. There are options you could entertain if these D-I-D's are being delivered over PRI. If not, your options are limited somewhat, but you're not painted into a corner. Give a bit more info and we'll see what we can do.

Yes, the DID's are coming in from a PRI, I tried the add/remove digit field and almost all 16 entries are being used already. Can I not change the park code?

Dan

Yes you can change (renumber) park codes (Someone already did, default is 881-888)

Some questions
was your base dial plan 2 digit, 3 digit, or setup space (4 digit)?
Are you currently using 2,3, or 4 digit extensions?
how many digits are you receiving from the CO?
Could you post a copy of your Dial Plan Routing tables.

When Linux is Free and Open, who needs Windows or Gates?

we are at 4 digit extensions, 4 digits coming in from co. I will post dialplan shortly.

if your existing extensions match the digits coming in from the CO, you don't need 16 tables!

regardless, you should be able to renumber your park zones (as long as nothing else uses 881-888) :)
when your in system renumber> single (what ever your looking for) hit Inspect (Thanks TTT), and it'll list the current values in logical ID order (use more to scroll), it can be faster than waiting for a print-all to run.

our ext's now start with 5 and the new did's are starting with 4 the table is used up with random redirects of the old did's not going to the exact match ext. dont ask me why....
I

----------------------------------- ANNOTATION -----------------------------------

Also print and post your System Set Up and Non Local UDP reports. Check that the remote access is either the default or something in your 5000 range.

There are ways to make one routing table do a lot.
Consider this example:

Current extensions 4300 to 4399
DIDs 4300 to 4399
The default route would route those since the incoming number match existing extensions

Consider this:

Current extensions: 4300 to 4399
DIDs 5300 to 5399
One route would delete the first incoming number(left to right deletion) and replace it with the number 4 effectively changing 53xx to 43xx.

You can route like that all day for PRI.

However in your case you may want to keep the extension number the same as the last four digits of the DID. Makes sense. Thats what I would do if I were adding new extensions with DIDs. You do have to clear the dial plan and renumber where necessary but it is a better solution in the end. One number for the folks to remember.
