Cannot access Secure sights from IE6

When start IE6 on xp box I cannot log into MSN or Hotmail or several secure sights I get an error but all security settings are low and correct..

there could be many different reasons for this. first is if the encryption is too low. even if it is IE 6.0 don't mean it has the 128 bit encryption. go to "help">"about internet explorer" and it will display the info. reinstall IE 6.0 with correct 128 bit encryption if anything lower. also we have had a customer lately that had the same problem but with hers she had a bad install of a burnt copy of Norton Anti-virus. hope it helps.

My problem is similar but not quite exact. I have no problem with msn.com or hotmail. I do have problem browsing on to ALL secure sites.

My encryption is 128. And when I try to re-install IE6.0, the installation stops and a prompt says that I have a newer version already installed. Then it quits.

FOUND A SOLUTION!!! I got it a while ago but forgot to share til now. Here it is..

go to START -> RUN -> type
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wintrust.dll

presto!! now tell all those that need it, and i know it's not just me. no one should go through the hell i did. thanks for everyone's tip anyway.
