We're currently having problems accessing the standby S8700 server of a CM 2.2 system through its services port. After further inspection it turns out that every interface from it is not reachable, even though the server itself is running and looks to be fine physically (server2 interfaces):

Restarting the standby server never did anything helpful. Any suggestions on how to access the standby server other than through its network interfaces? We really need to verify the actual status before making any drastic moves such as remastering, thanks!

sounds like the server has crashed as all the interfaces are down and IPSI B is up so it rules out the data switch problem probably. as it is a standby server, I would put the CM cd in and reload it and copy the translation from a to b. Be very carefully not to do it the other way.

Thanks mrjedi, that's what I'm afraid of. We were hoping to connect at least a monitor and keyboard so we could observe the server's behavior in real-time, unfortunately S8700's still doesn't provide those kinds of connections.

We're actually still waiting for Avaya's input, but I believe it would be assessed the same way as you did.

The S8700 should have a Monitor connection on the back. You can connect a monitor and see if you get a screen. Prior to 3.x there was an issue where the interfaces would just seem to disappear. Rebooting was the only way to bring them back up. I would strongly suggest you look at upgrading.

you could possibly access it via dialup. just unplug the active server's line from the USB modem and then wait for the standby server to answer.

Looks like the server is dead, we're going to replace it with another S8700 if reloading the CM won't work on it. Thanks again guys for the help!
