Hi all,

I have a very annoying problem on some IE5.5 installations which I am not able to track down.

Following situation:

OS is Win 98 SE
Internet Explorer is IE 5.5 SP1

When I open the INTERNET OPTIONS | CONNECTIONS | LAN SETTINGS page, there's no possibility to check / de-check the PROXYSERVER checkbox, thus resulting in no access to the proxy settings. I need to set these proxy settings as we are using a proxy for different situations (not always).

Anybody knows a solution to this? I've tried looking into the registry settings but with no luck, yet.

TIA & regards,

Andreas

Andreas,

If the following registry key does not exist, disregard the suggestion

Navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel

if you see an entry named Proxy with a value of 1, delete it.

The same goes for these entries, if found:

Connection Settings
Connwiz Admin Lock

Hi reghakr,

thanks a million, this worked fine on the machines with the problems. I deleted the settings and now I am able to use the proxy settings page again.

Best regards,

Andreas
