I have two sites that I am having issues with. The issue I am having is that I cannot remote into the option 11c using the OTM navigator. We have back-up SEB's at the sites and I can access the option 11c through the SEB, yet when I try to access these sites through the OTM navigator i receive a message at the overlay passthrough screen saying that the remote destination is not reachable. Any suggestions?

Are you using dial up or a network connection from the OTM?

LD 37 -> STAT

Also - check network connectivity to the PBX assuming you're hittin hit that way via OTM.

trvlr1: we connect through the network with our otm

nessman: That is something that I still need to check on, not to sure if the network ports disabled on us or not... thanks!

OK I think I'm gonna pull my hair out on this. I have gone out to the sites individually and manually assigned the IP address of the Option 11 to my laptop, connected to the cable that connects to the option 11 and was able to communicate with on the network (hopefully ruling out network issues), Ive replaced the transciever box as well as the SSC card, and I still cannot connect via overlay passthrough with out OTM. I can ping my laptop with the manually assigned IP, however when I re-connect the option 11 I cannot ping it with its IP address... any suggestions?

What's between the remote site's 11c and wherever it is you are trying to access it from? Think firewalls, routers, VPN's, etc. Throw a packet sniffer up on the TM server (i.e., Wireshark) and see what traffic it's trying to pass.

I took a quick look through the NTP's to see what TCP or UDP ports need to be open and didn't see anything... but found this on the interwebs:

Task L4 protocol (TCP/UDP) Port Number or range Interface Description Comments
OTM TCP 80 any HTTP WebCS, DesktopServices, WebTBS
OTM TCP 4789-5045 any Virtual System Terminal
OTM TCP 139 any NetBEUI Windows Client Filesharing
OTM TCP 3351 any Btrieve StationAdmin
OTM TCP 1583 any Btrieve StationAdmin
OTM UDP 162 any SNMP Alarm Traps (LD117), MaintWindows,
OTM UDP 1929 any DBA on Call Server. (not OTM server?)
OTM TCP 5099 any RMI OTMDECT

o.k., network wise between the 81 and the 11... our 81 resides at our primary data center and the 11 is at one of our campuses... I did a trace route to the 11's ip address from the OTM and it goes from the otm, hits our main router, hits the campus router and then from there makes no connection to the 11. If it were a firewall issue it would have been blocked at the first router... its traversing the internal network to the campus... so I do not think that its going to be a protocol issue... what about that flash card on the SSC card? What exactly is stored in that little jewel? Does it hold connection information? if so, what would happen if that was corrupt? Just throwing some Ideas out there. There is a common factor between the two sites being that they are in fairly close proximity (within a few miles) and the subdivisions in that area have experienced frequent brown outs from what Im told. However both 11's are connected to UPS's so i doubt a surge would have spiked the machine...

I believe the connection in the Opt 11 is 10meg max, do you have your network port set to auto or fixed at 100meg etc?

Im gonna have to check on that one... we are using gig. I do not think any of the interfaces have changed since the last time it was actually working, however I am not in charge of this area. Let me check that and I'll get back with you...

Update on this one. Talked to the network guys and they said that both switches are set up on automatic discovery for port speed.

Can the network guys ping it from the actual router? From another subnet (ie. through the router)?

Do they see the port as up and in use (link and MAC on that port)?

The link is up and up, I can ping the gateway at the remote site from our shop, when I connect my laptop to the actual cable that is connected to the option 11 they can see my laptop come on line. However, when I plug back into the option 11 they get nothing coming up. Ive already replaced the transciever and the SSC card and still no luck.

If you are going through an SEB you may need to send the password to get through. I used to have one and there is no answer back messages to tell the caller that the connection was made. This way hackers don't know what they have connected to so they can try to do damage.

I am aware of that, unfortunately our phone line for the SEB is down right now so I don't even have access through that.

Is there a default route set on the 11C? If you can access on the same segment (subnet) but not through the router that could be the problem.

Also check the subnet mask on the 11C.

If you give the network guys a diagram they should be able to quickly go down the trouble shooting steps for routing issues.

I'm assuming that you have rebooted the 11c as I had the same problem 2 weeks ago with a site that had a very old Symposium that had stopped working over the weekend. We assumed that it was the old NT Sympo that had failed, but the network guys managed to hook up a laptop on the end of the Ethernet cable going into the 11c.

That proved that the Sympo link was OK. I did a reboot -1 in pdt to reset the 11c and it brought back the Ethernet link OK on power up.

I never did find out what the cause was, except the customer did say that they had power issues that weekend with all of their kit.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

My guess is limitations on ELAN/LAN Sessions which can only be reset back to Zero in PDT or an INI on the swtich, a patch was available many moons ago to resolve that but that should be accounted for in general patches/issp/updates now

Cheers!!
