Hello All,

I have a Windows 2000 Server SP4 and when I try to go to the network properties nothing happens. I needed to change a static IP and had to do it using the command prompt using "netsh". Quite a useful command, but I had never used it until now. I also cannot access any web using IExplorer. I rarely access the web from the server unless its to download drivers. I ran Ad-Aware and Spybot on it but no results. Could my Winsock be corrupted? Would that also affect the Network Properties Interface?

Any help is appreciated.

Can you open My Computer from the start menu? I had a similar problem caused by Spybot running SDhelper.dll, which was corrupt and caused explorer.exe to crash on startup. Fix was to uninstall and reinstall spybot because CHKDSK /r didnt repair the file.

Can you manage the server from another w2k machine? Control panel, Admin tools, Computer management, connect to another computer, and connect to your server. Also, look into FlyingDevilFish's idea. Good luck.

I can manage the computer remotely from the snap-in. I can access my computer just fine from the desktop and start menu. I still cant access the network properties from my network places. I uninstalled Spybot from the machine, but need to do a reboot and cant because I have users on it at the moment. After they are off I will reboot the machine then try again.

I'll reply as soon as that is done. Thank you for your help in the mean time.

I uninstalled spybot and rebooted the server. Still cannot access network properties or Iexplorer. Well actually I can access IExplorer, but it wont go to any sites. Internet explorer isn't my main concern, but mentioned it as I think it may be related to my net properties issue. Not sure.

Lemme Know,
