Hey Guys,

I have a problem. I inherited an IP Office in basic mode. I cannot access with system manager. I connected serial cable, entered
at-securityresetall lower case powered off entered upper case. Got mac request on both ways. Entered mac address, got ok. did reboot from at-debug. I could not access the system with any id and password, tried several. I have them all, default ones that is, but could not get into system. Is there any other way to reset password or dump it...Very frustrating. Was able to set system up through phone only because it had the right number of sets and right number of lines. A little luck anyway. Customer now wants voicemail. I know how to record message and turn aa on, but how do I set up options 1 to susy, 2 for gary. etc. If I cannot set option where do voicemails go. Want to turn on aa always, can do that, but do not know here it goes from there. Anyone have in details on out to set up through phone only or dump password somehow. Hate factory reset system, do not know what I will end up with since reset doesn't work. At least they can make and receive calls now. Do not want to make it worse...4x8 system in key mode.

thanks for you help in advance.

Basic password is password not administrator.

Basic mode password was Administrator/password on older versions but is Administrator/Administrator on newer versions.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

Continuing saga...I tried admin/pass user and password. Did not work. I did at-sec reset, did not work...I reset the enter unit to factory default...Could not logon as admin with password. Tried all user and password combos...Could not logon on after reset. Was able to get Into unit with webmanager...manager...Got done what I needed to do on aa and make a few changes. Does anyone have any ideas why I cannot logon to lan port as administrator....cannot access unit through wan port either with administrator. Used at-debug verified ip address of lan and wan. Can ping them, but cannot login....Any suggestions......Manager may not allow me to do everything I need to do....Running in Basic mode on inheirated system...Know partner commands and nortel commands, but cannot do everything through admin on phone...

thanks

Have you tried getting into the security settings??? Our installers will disable the administrator account and a resetall may not change that, I am not sure as I have never tried.

I tried all the userid and password...caps, lower case, mixed.....I had to do a hard restore default to even get web manager to work, but still cannot get on with any password.....can ping as i said, dumped through at-debug verified id address....get failure to connect to avaya ip office, or some similar message about failure check connection....tired on switch and crossover cable....do not know what to try now.....Not certain what it could be....looks like ip problem, but do not know...thanks for idea though.....Can all passwords be disabled even when factory default is done...I do not know the avaya ip office release level...I have 10.1 software I think.....it is an avaya ip office 500 v2 box......

What version is the system running? I believe on older versions I ended up turning off secured communications when I would get this type of problem. I know you said Manager is R10.1 but what version is the control unit running?

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

Running 9.1 build 829. Can logon on with admin and webmanager....cannot logon thru manager....failed to retrieve msg then fail to connect....can ping addr nd do web manager....any ideas...runing 10.1 manager....as i said earlier did at-secreset....erased security...set to none....still at a loss...

tks

Critchey is probably correct. Check the security settings under manager/file/preferences. Verify secure communications is unchecked. If it is unchecked, check the box and verify it is set to none. It will hide the none-low-medium-high options when unchecked but will still hose up communications if it isn't set to none. If it is unchecked and set to none, it will give a warning when you try to connect to a system with security on.

Have you tried doing a direct connect to unit? static your laptop for 192.168.42.5 for example if the lan 1 address is at default and see if you can now get in with manager.

Was finally able to logon into Web Manager, but no where else...Tried to reset preferences and go direct by putting cat5 cable to both, one at a time, to ip office. Cross over and straight through. Could get to unit but never could sign in....was running ip manager 10.1 and tried 9.1 with no difference....Do not understand why I could not get in....Did AT-SEC.... but no help....Web M took the admin stuff...Voice mail occasionally but reset sd card and power brought it back to life...Had to program mostly through phone except for aa....But did get to do what I needed to do...Thanks for the help and advice....

Did you try turning off the secure communications in manager as I suggested earlier? budbyrd went over the exact procedure.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

Yes, I turned off secure communications in manager....download new manager software too. turned off again...Not able to logon except for web manager.....tks

Then you need to give a word for word accounting of the error given. If you can get in with web manager and not manager a vague 'I can't log in' isn't enough information. And you are certain you changed security to 'None' before turning it off.

Sorry Been Tied up. Do not have exact messages in front of me but after i entered userid and password, tried different one, it said failed to connect check details for correctness or something to that affect. I re-entered info, did a retry then got network error, but I would access system with Web Manager, Ping system, and see system on ip manager to select it....Only way in was web manager....I have programmed partner and nortel systems in the past, so with what I could do in web manager and through admin I finally accomplished what I needed to do by hook and crook...

Thanks....

Through the manager desktop client, try disabling secure communications on file / preferences / security. IF it is enabled, sset it to none before disabling. You will likely be able to access via desktop client again, as critchey and budbyrd both have suggested...

I can guarantee 'Network Error' is a secure connection error. I have seen that one thousands of times.
