Hi,

I am having a whole lot of trouble getting to the shares at the office computer.

Have no trouble completing a VPN connection. Authenticates and logs in the user w/no problems. However, I cannot browse or even use "\\servername\share" @ the run prompt to access any shared resource. Which, I understand to mean that the office network server is still inaccessable.

My setup for office and home are as follows:

OFFICE:
BEFSVP41 router
Win2K Pro machine acting as server.
Router IP - 192.168.1.1 (gateway - LAN)
Router IP - 24.214.180.234 (gateway assigned - WAN)
Server IP - 192.168.1.2 (static)
Local Macines IP's 192.168.1.3 - 192.168.1.10 (static)
Have disabled the routers VPN tunnel and followed the linksys guide for setting up the port forwarding and port triggering (ie., 1723, 500, 51, 50).
Connection works fine this way, but no access to resources.

HOME:
BEFSR41 router
Win2K Pro macine as client
Router IP - 192.168.1.1 (gateway - LAN)
Router IP - 68.59.102.216 (gateway assigned - WAN)
Local Macines IP's 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.3 - static
No forwarding or routing setup on home router.

Am I having a routing problem, and if so, then is the problem on the server or the client? Also, do I need to do static routing on the routers? And if yes, then how? I could use some examples.

Thanks for any help.
Tim

NetBios doesn't work over a routed connection as broadcasts are filtered out. You need to use either a hosts file or a WINS server on the network.

The other problem that you may have is using the same network ranges on both networks. Better to use different networks.

Chris.

Do you have "file and print sharing" setup on client node? (and server, as obvious a question as it may sound)
