Is it possible to upgrade a stand-alone NW 4.11 server to NW 5 or do I need to back-up and do a clean install?

yes any version of netware 5 will automatically assume an upgrade is ocurring as soon as it sees the netware 4 on the box. in fact it will use the existing schema and extend it as necessary.

Yes you can. But after spending three days getting it to work. There are some gotcha's. Out problems were with Netware connect and NAIS, From Netware 4 DHCP to NDS DHCP
But when we finished the whole network (3 servers, 4.11,4.2,5.0 to 5.0,5.0 with DHCP and 4.11) went much fast and is very stable. (and we abuse it ).
GOLDEN RULE 1
DO YOUR BACKUPS !!
Why break it now?
jcacciap, we put the 4.11 sys vol into an other machine and a new hard disk in the server for 5.0 then upgraded as well as having backups.
