I have one Web Server (Gateway).
I installed cognos 8 on server A and B. I created website for cognos 8A and cognos 8B on the same machine. How can I point the gateway to look for the dispatcher since you can only have one dispather in the cognos 8 configuration. Is there any way to add another Gateway URI under local configuration/Environment? Can some one help?

Thanks.

In my Cognos 8 configuration, the option "Dispathcer URI for Gateway" has unlimited entries possible to setup redundancy.
Reportnet has only 1 entry to set here, but C8 has multiple.

I think you are trying to put your stuff in the wrong location. The "Gateway URI" is not about pointing to the dispatchers, and has indeed only 1 entry. (which is by design)

I guess,I did not explain it well, Let me try to do this again. I have 2 dispatcher servers. I set the ODBC DSNs on both servers which points to differnt Databases. I only have 1 Web server where the IIS and Cognos MR2 Gateway is installed. How can I configure 2 websites as this example:

Website1:
Website2:
How can I configure this on the webserver in cognos configuration since it only has one entry for Gateway URI and Dispatcher.

Does any one know?

Please help. Any help is appriciated.

Thanks..

You can install and configure the gateway tier in as much directories as you want on the webserver.

c:\program files\cognos\c8gwprod
c:\program files\cognos\c8gwtest

Each install has it's own configuration.

Thanks for your help. I will try this..

One more question on this same topic. Currently I have to move one of the cognos 8 server and attch it with another webserve. will this going to accept the changes when I change the configuration or the crypto key will be changed automatically?

Usually when switching existing configs, the overwrite of the crypto keys will not work well, and you end up removing "C:\Program Files\Cognos\c8\configuration\encryptkeypair and signkeypair" to get it written correct.
