Does anyone know of a good app (shareware perhaps) that profiles disk space usage in detail?

One of my xppro desktop users has completely filled up his hard drive.

It's odd. Seems to have happened all of a sudden. His machine is virtually crippled now. He's been poking around the c: drive to see if he can find an unusually large directory, but he cannot find anything unusual. Neither can I.

I plan to install an additional HD on his machine, but I'd love to see a breakdown of the largest directores on the system to see if anything jumps out at me.

Much thanks in advance for any suggestions.

There are several utilities, and the free ones like treeview and SpaceMonger MAY work. Just be aware that they are probably presenting incomplete information. Most programs cannot include files they don't have access to. Folders and files like those in the System Volume Information (System Restore) folder cannot be included in their reports.

I recommend using the Microsoft Command Line tool, DIRUSE. It's from the 2000 resource kit but runs fine on 2000, XP, and 2003. Download from:

Thanks everyone for all the advice.

I'll look at each of these to see which works best for me.
