Can you open a InDesign 2.0 doc in ID 2.0.2 1

I cannot open a ID CS 2.0 doc sent to me with my ID 2.0.2. The error message (InDesign Content Manager)

Cannot open "file name.Indd". Please upgrade your
plug-ins to their latest versions, or upgrade
to the latest version of Adobe Indesign.Why is .Indd following the file name? How is it being saved?

I am new to InDesign, your help will be appreciated!

This error message may occur if the version of InDesign was a beta or a similar pre-release version. Can you confirm what version of InDesign was used? You can find the build number in parentheses next to the version number (2.0) when you choose Help>About while holding the Control/Command key.

It Reads like you are trying to open an InDesign CS (Which is version 3) document in InDesign version 2.
a .Indd is an Indesign CS document

You can open InDesign v2 documents in InDesign CS but not the other way around.

.indd is the extension for ID 1 and 2. Is it different from ".Indd", with the initial cap?

The filename extension is the same between versions. There is simply some confusion on what version is really in use here. We misread the original post.
