When using DID cards, is there anyway to identify who is calling internally, like it does when it is an intra-office call?

Right now when we place a DID call it rings on the desk and shows Line199, etc. I am sure I could create a ton of inbound target lines and name each one, but is there an easier way?

If we switched to caller ID cards, can they accept auto inbound calls like the DID will and then display the caller ID?

If I send the caller ID using another means, can the caller ID cards answer calls like the DID cards?

The VoIP network we have can send caller ID.

Analog DID trunks are a old school technology, but they allow muliple calls for the same number.
Analog lines do not allow muliple calls for each number. Analog lines are set up to hunt to the next analog line. But this would require a massive amont of lines to do the same thing as DIDs - You'd need 2-3 lines per each person.

Look into PRI or fractional PRI and they get caller ID and still keep costs down.
Take care,
Mike Science
