Can You EZ Change A Phone Type

If I wanted to change from a 2317 to a 2008 with an EZ Change, is that possible or do I have to OUT the DN completely and Rebuild using the 2008?

I am a newbie, so forgive me. I don't have any 2317 phones on hand, but I'm fairly certain that the phone is the problem. If I want to OUT the phone and rebuild it with a 2008 what would I need to do? Thanks for any help you can provide.
