We have an older 1600 Cisco router. I am trying to encapsulate dot1q on a sub-interface (e0). Does this model even support this??? If not what is the bottom line model that does??

Thanks,

Eric

IIRC, you need a Fast/Gig Ethernet port to do dot1q or ISL.

Just as a FYI- I was *told* but have not tried it yet, that you can do 802.1Q on a 10 1/2 port on a 2610 type of router. If anyone is feeling bored this weekend, that might be an interesting test to try :)

what IOS do you have?

for 802.1Q you need IP Plus..

That could be my problem, I flash it with IP only, I think the update I used only came in that form. Are you sure the 1600 model supports dot1q on subinterfaces???
