Is there any way to set the screen cursor position in an input field? Say, I want to let the user start typing at character 10.
Another question: can I preset the input mode to INSERT (like you pressed Ctrl-A first)?

Thanks!

Harry:

The Informix 4GL INPUT and INPUT ARRAY statements are rather brain-dead. I don't think there's a way of doing what you want, short of Informix adding the functionality.

I doubt that's going to happen.

I think you are right. I was trying to write a user friendly input screen for a free format note. Since training user to use vi is not an option, now the best I can do is use a WORDWRAP COMPRESSed multi-line field.

Thanks for the response!
