On start of the workflow I need people to fill out a details/attributes form select a document that might or might not be already in Live Link, and then I am going to dynamically set the documents catagories to the attributes specified and move it to a different folder.

The problem is that the item reference only seems to handle "browse live link" document type and the Item handler category operations for item attachments will only set the catagories on the attachments folder itself.

Any ideas???

If I am not mistaken the latest workflow and forms will allow you to add a browse file command to a form and if it is not the first step of a workflow then your document object will get uploaded to the attachments part.In a later step you could possibly craft the movement of the document to the library.Sorry I have only seen it done,I have laways used event scripts whenever possible but that is coding.

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?

I can not believe the workflows do not allow you to create catagories for attachment files without custom code.
Most files that go through a workflow are new documents:

The only way I can think of doing it is moving the document to a temp hidden folder and renaming the document to temp, then set the catagories to a known Live Link object (temp) then moving it again to the final destination and giving the file a real name.

Seems kinda lame...
