Can transaction log be reviewed?

Hi Everyone:

I have a question which may sound silly, but I'd really like to know to answer. My question is that if Transaction log can be reviewed,like the way we review data we write into the database? By review, I mean to open up .ldf file and see what is in it? if yes, how? if no, why?

No. You cannot do it just using SQL, but there is a company called Lumigent Technologies that makes a product called Log Explorer.

No, I don't work there and I've never even used it but I hear it's pretty slick. I think you can even download a free trial.

Hi,

There is an undocumented DBCC command which u can use to see the transaction log.

dbcc log (master)
