Can this be done? DID rings 2 times at a desk, then 3x to a Hunt Group, then back to the desk's VM? 2

Hello all,
I have an IPO500 V2, 9.0 that I'll be installing in a couple days at a financial firm. The cust wishes for all DID calls to ring 2 or 3 times at the desk of the DID owner, then ring 2 or 3 times to a unique hunt group (each user has a specific set of extensions whom they want to cover their unanswered incoming calls for them), then go into the VM box of the DID owner.

Some specifics:
1) The DID range is xxx-3600 to xxx-3630
2) Extension numbers are 3600 to 3630
3) Each extension is backed up by a unique set of extensions
4) I have created coverage hunt groups for each extension to use (3800-3830)

My idea was to build incoming call routes for each DID, with the proper extension as the "Destination," and set the "Fallback Extension" to be the Hunt Group for that extension.

As an example, DID xxx-3600 gets a destination of extension 3600, and a fallback extension of 3800 (which is a Collective Hunt Group containing ext 3615, 3604 and 3610), while DID xxx-3609 gets a destination extension of 3609, and a fallback extension of 3809.

There are unique hunt groups (3800 to 3830) for each extension.

Where I'm now getting tripped up is I don't know how to control the amount of time/number of rings before a call is routed to a Fallback Extension.

Any ideas? One challenge is that several people do phone coverage for several phones; I'm relying on Hunt Group names to alert the person answering the call whom they are answering the call for.

All help is greatly appreciated!

POC
Route the DID with ICT to user
Set user NoAnswer target to the group
Enable the NoAnswer option
NoAnswer timeout to 15 seconds ( default )
Enable VM ( on by default )

Thanks so much for that advice.

Will that setup cause the the call to go into the Hunt Group mailbox? I know I can put a Source Number of H38xx on each user's User setting, but I'd prefer to be able to use the Visual Voice feature on each user's phone and just have the calls go directly into the user's mailbox.

Use a phantom user in a different group to forward the call to a shortcode that puts it in the mailbox of your choice :)

amriddle01: how would that work?

is this correct?

i'd create another set of groups (one for each group i've already got), have a single phantom user (one for each extension i'd want VM to go to) as the member of each group, create short codes (one for each VM box i'm trying to hit), and have the phantom user forward unconditional to that new short code, then have the 38xx group overflow after 10 or so seconds to the new group?

First you ask this:
I have an IPO500 V2, 9.0 that I'll be installing in a couple days at a financial firm. The cust wishes for all DID calls to ring 2 or 3 times at the desk of the DID owner, then ring 2 or 3 times to a unique hunt group (each user has a specific set of extensions whom they want to cover their unanswered incoming calls for them), then go into the VM box of the DID owner.
Then you ask this:
Will that setup cause the the call to go into the Hunt Group mailbox?

No, it will be in the VMBoxr of the owner of the DID ( the first target to ring will always be the VM Target ).

Confusion all along, be clear before asking something please.

Create a shortcode:
SC = *99XXXX
TN = "#"N
Action = VoicemailCollect
LineID = 0

Then set the NoAnswer number as *99YYYY were YYYY is the groupnumber to leave the message in
Disable VM for the user.

Each user can have its own group message box but I see no advantage in that as each user has its own VM Box unless you want all messages left in the same gropmailbox.

I'm sorry about any miscommunication.

My desire is that the call's VM go to the DID owner, NOT a HG mailbox. In my second to last post when i asked "Will that setup cause the the call to go into the Hunt Group mailbox?" I was asking that because I was unclear on which VM box would get the call if I set up the way suggested.

I like the short code setup you just suggested. Very good idea, and thank you!

If you have VM pro what about this

ICR to a Hunt group rings original user
then overflows to a group HG
they do not answer goes to original HG VM that has a Leave mail to the users Mailbox.. not a new HG mailbox

So here's what I've got in place now (I'll be able to test it on Tuesday):
DID 3600 rings at ext 3600 for 12 seconds, the the Forward Number is set to 3800.
3800 is the ext of the Hunt Group containing the extensions that they want to cover for ext 3600
HG 3800 is set to overflow after 12 seconds to HG 3900
HG 3900 has only 1 member, which is a phantom ext 3500
Short Code *99XXXX (VM collect for telephone number "#"N) has been built
Ext 3900 is set to forward unconditional to *993600

If I understand the advise I've received here thus far, then I believe that this setup will result in 12 seconds of ringing at the desk, 12 seconds of ringing to the coverage HG, then getting directly into the mailbox of the original desk.

How did I do? Did I comprehend the advice given, and execute on it correctly?

This is how it works:

First target rings during the time set in "Ring Timeout", NoAnswer target rings during the time set in "RingTimeout" of first user, after expiration of the timer the call will go back to the original destination. If VM is turned on the call will go to the users VM Box.

By VM will always go the the first targeted extn, "Sneaky" programing can override this but you don't need to in this scenario

Go to user / forwarding & press your F1 key
