CAN THE 3641 WLS WORK ON IPO WITHOUT AVPP?

Hi all.

I would like to implement the Avaya wireless phones 3641 without AVPP. Is this possible and what would be the steps to configure on the 3641 and IPO?

I believe you can but the AVPP does provide registration, timing and qos for the wireless phones.

As long as your WLAN supports standards-based QoS, you can operate without the AVPP. Look at the Spectalink View Configuration guides which can be accessed from

http://www.spectralink.com/product-information/wi-fi/view-program

to make sure that the WLAN has been tested and is correctly configured. The 3641/3645 are equivalent to the Spectralink 8020/8030 when looking at those guides.

There is a configuration option in the 3641/3645 to use either SVP or standards-based QoS.

Get IP Dect R4 if you want this to work properly.

The wifi appears to be cheaper for a small setup, but you're going to waste a tom of time om customer complaints.
(I'm assuming time is money)

I hear you people and appreciate your advise. The pressing issue is that the phones are already there and money has been spent. Should I just ignore them or at least make them work and accept the caveats?

Who ordered them and who talked to you in front of this project?
Without proper preparation this will end in to a disaster and an unhappy customer.

Never seen it work 100%, not even in my lab.

If the Wifi network is shared with other traffic, you're basically ****ed.
On a separate setup, it's better, but not good at all.

In my experience the battery time is horrible after a few months use.

The "best" result I got was with a Juniper SGG-5, Avaya made a job aid for that one as well.

I lost all my hair because of the WiFi, even Spectralink engineers could't fix it altough everyting was perfect installed, configured and all approved by Spectralink.
Since the replacement with DECT R4 my hair began to grow again( a little )
