Hi,

I have just installed Office 2000 SP3 on most of our office computers. We use some Excel files with macros in them. Before i applied the SP3 update, Excel used to ask us if we wanted to Enable or Disable macros before opening the file.
But after the SP3 update, Excel just opens the file without asking. If I click on the buttons on the worksheet to execute the macro, it doesn`t run at all, Excel just selects the button as if it were in design mode.
If I open the VB Editor, the code is all there but if I click on "play", I get a message that macros have been disabled so I should refer to the help file to enable them!?!?!

This phenomenon only occurs on computers which have Office SP3. Those still on SR-1 can still run the macros.
I can`t seem to un-install SP3, and I can`t find any info on this on the MS website. Anyone encounter this too?

Thanks for any info,
Danny.

Sounds like Security settings have gone to high, where they are automatically disabled, so no need for a prompt.

Try Tools / Macro / Security - Set to medium.

KenWright Thanks heaps for this, I had the same problem today and knowing nothing about macros I knew some angel on here would!!

My pleasure - That shows the beauty of the forum, in that you can come on here and get an answer without even having to pose a question. The archives are an absolute treasure trove of information, so before posting any question, it is always worth doing a keyword search on the subject. Uusally a very good chance that it has already been answered.
