We have a Notes NT 4 Server which RAS is setup on. When we dial in remotely with our laptop, RAS issues a correct IP address to the laptop and authenticates fine and connects ok. Once we try to ping the server 'ie 192.168.100.6' it just times out. We use RAS via Modems, 1 on server and 1 on laptop. No firewall software is behind the modems. We want to be able to access Notes remotely through RAS / Notes Client but we get this problem? Any ideas?! Thanks.

Ping inside the local Network works?

Is there a Firewall?

Ww have a firewall on the leased line for the internet but not behind the modems. We can ping server locally. Thanks.

You should check NetBT and also make sure IP forwarding is ON.

Question when you dial the server does it give you the correct ip subnet address back. I have seen an issue where NT 4 has the wrong subnet and is then not able to ping the network..Apparently this is documented somewhere in Tech Net and a further patch is available....This is fixed in windows 2k and 98....

Problem has now been solved! Thanks to all who have helped. I reinstalled TCP/IP on the Server and now works fine. Thanks.
