I have a Avaya Definity system that has a verizon PRI connected to it with many DID numbers riding the PRI. The DNIS is the last 4 digits of the DID number(ex 1724). I have a modem line that when called internally(ext 1724) answers ok. But when you dial the DID number from external source, the call is Ring NO ANSWER......The internal number is the same as the DNIS that is sent for external calls......I am able to connect an analog phone where the modem is and recieve AND answer the inbound calls fine whether it was an internal or external call.....Have change the port from 1 card to another and from 1 cabinet to another....I had to eventually put a copper trunk that we had as a spare so that the modem is able to recieve calls externally. Can anybody explain what the hell is happening and how to fix it......i would normally post in the Avaya section but i dont think it has anything to do with the PBX.
