We have the CS1000 VERSION 3521 - RELEASE 5 - ISSUE 00 W + IDLE_SET_DISPLAY (printed ISS from LD 22)

We've installed our first couple of 1140e phones successfully and would like to know how the Directory key works and how to set up the Directory functionality. Is the directory populated from the CS1000 or can it be from our Outlook AD? Subject to your response I would also like to know how we go about setting it up or is it something we should request to be set up from our Telephone provider? Any documentation about the Directory set up for the 1140e phones would be helpful too. I've gone through the manual but it only tells you what to do once the directory has been set up.

Thank you very much.

The personal directory is set up through the signal server, it's an option you check.

Corporate Directory needs set up through the CS1K

Yes, I've been trying to get this setup too. I've tried to read up about it, but so far I haven't actually found anything that explains how to set it up in the first place.

I know it's setup in the CS1K, but how? I'm at a total loss to understand how it's done. Can anyone explain, I for one would be eternally grateful.

The Feature Guide explains it very well. Tells you how to implement it and all the operating parameters.

CLS - CRPA Corporate Directory Allowed

From the Nortel Features NTP NN43001-106-B2_fs_Fundamentals_c

A Corporate Directory database is created from Telephony Manager (TM) information.
This database is downloaded and stored on the system.

The system administrator can configure TM to download the directory database manually, or automatically to the system.

To use the Corporate Directory utility, TM 2.0 or later must be installed.

Then it goes on about Call Server memory requirements based on size of directory.

That's all I could find so far.

You can actually implement Corporate Directory without Telephony Manager. You can implement it through UCM, Via Element Manager or you can upload the file through PDT. TM is no longer supported and not a requirement.
